Welcome to Viva Voce

Viva Voce is a Sheffield-based chamber choir, with singers from in and around the city. The group runs on a collective basis and performs in a variety of venues both in Sheffield and further afield.

The main aim is to sing music that we like as beautifully and as often as possible. We often choose challenging or lesser-known repertoire.

Next concert - Memento Mori

MementoMoriposter.jpg
Saturday 24 March 2012, 7.30pm at St Oswalds Church, Abbeydale Road, Sheffield

We warmly invite you on a sacred and profane pilgrimage taking in Paris, moving to a cliff setting of the Black Madonna of Rocamadour, the Spain of Tomas de Victoria's in Madrid and back further in time to the bawdy licentious music of Medieval troubadours en route to pay homage to St James in Santiago de Compostela, via the Monastery at Montserrat. Enjoy the sublime Mass in G minor by Poulenc, the beautiful Victoria Requiem and the rhythmic pilgrim songs from the Monastery of Montserrat. We look forward to seeing you there.

Programme

Poulenc: Mass in G minor (1937)
Priez pour paix
Victoria: Requiem (1605) Officium defunctorum
O lux et decus Hispaniae
Anon: Pilgrim Songs from the Monastery of Montserrat (1400-1420)

Tickets: £10 (adults), £8 (concessions), £6 (students), under 16s free.
